Why strength matters

The Missing Piece in Most Rehab

Most rehab ends too early. The pain is gone, but the injured area hasn’t been rebuilt to handle the loads of real life, let alone a heavy deadlift, a long run or a weekend of yard work. That gap is where re-injury happens.

Strength training closes it. Progressive loading makes muscles, tendons and bones more resilient, improves confidence, and is one of the best-supported tools we have for long-term joint health and healthy aging.

At OLO, you train in a real gym inside Wolverine Strength & Conditioning, with barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells and rigs, coached by a clinician who understands both your injury and the lifts.

Conditions Strength Training Can Help

Our approach

From Rehab to Your Strongest Self

We don’t switch from “rehab” to “training” overnight. Strength work starts early, in whatever form your body tolerates, and progresses step by step.

The end goal is simple: you’re stronger than you were before you got hurt.

Start where you are

Tolerable loads and movements from day one, adjusted as symptoms settle.

Build progressively

Clear progressions in load, range and complexity, tracked session to session.

Return to full training

Back to your sport, your program or your heaviest lifts, with benchmarks to prove you’re ready.

What to expect

What a Strength Session Looks Like

Every visit is a full 60 minutes, one-on-one with Dr. Joe.

1

Check in and assess

How you’re feeling, what’s changed, and any quick testing to guide the day.

2

Coached training

Warm-up, technique work and your key lifts, coached and adjusted in real time.

3

Plan for the week

Clear guidance on what to do between sessions so progress keeps going.

Joe seriously saved the day!! Being a strength and conditioning coach my job is movement. So when an old knee injury had me limping in the gym I was pretty worried for my long day ahead of me. No worries with Dr Joe around. Just a look at me and he knew just what to do!

Questions

Strength Training FAQs

Don’t see yours? Call or text (734) 707-7285 or read our full FAQ.

I’ve never lifted weights. Is this for me?

Absolutely. We start with the basics and progress at your pace. You don’t need any lifting experience.

Do I need to be a gym member?

No. Our clinic is inside Wolverine Strength & Conditioning, but you don’t need a membership to train with us during your sessions.

I’m over 50. Is heavy lifting safe?

Strength training is one of the best things you can do as you age. We’ll choose loads and exercises that match your body, history and goals, and progress carefully.

Do you take insurance?

OLO is cash-based and out-of-network, which is how every visit stays a full 60 minutes one-on-one. HSA/FSA cards are accepted, and we can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. See our FAQ.
